Meteor Shower Cyphastrea Coral

The Meteor Shower Coral is a type of hard stony coral of the Cyphastrea family. The Meteor Shower trade name was given to this coral because the polyps give the appearance of tiny craters as if impacted by meteors. There are many variations of this coral type that vary in color pattern, color intensity, and are known by different trade names. This is a medium growing coral that grows in an encrusting pattern. The parent of the coral in the Bridge Tender reef arrived at Reeves' Reef in July 2015 and is the original parent coral. It is an unknown age and unknown generation of captive coral. Reeves' Reef is cultivating more generations of fragments of this coral.
